There are many ways to make money online, like taking paid surveys and freelance writing. But one of the most fun options is getting paid to test websites and apps.
There are lots of websites and apps out there that’ll pay you real cash for trying apps. This is one of those really easy ways to make money because you don’t typically need any qualifications to get started.
What will I learn?
All you will need is your phone, tablet, or desktop computer, and an internet connection of course.
What Does an App Tester Do?
App testing, like any other form of product testing, is a varied job. App developers want people to try out their apps during development, before they’re launched, and after they’re launched.
Developers want to make sure that their apps work well and provide a great user experience. So they will often hire testers, like you, to try out their apps to check how user-friendly they are, before they are released.
Your feedback is what’s important here. It’s the same reason why there are places where you can test products for amazon and get paid.

Some app developers simply want more eyes on their apps, so they will pay users just to install them, or in the case of gaming apps, play them through to a certain level.
There are lots of places that will pay you try out apps.
This could include:
- Simply installing an app on your phone. Then, after a certain amount of time you can delete the app from your device.
- Using an app while you’re being recorded and speak your thoughts on it aloud.
- Installing a game.
- Installing a gaming app and playing it through to a certain level.
- Installing an app, testing it out, and providing feedback in a short report or survey.
So, sometimes, it’s as simple as just downloading apps and sometimes it requires slightly more effort, and you’ll need to speak your thoughts aloud as you’re recorded during a test, and your feedback is sent to the developer.
Whatever the case, getting paid to try apps is really easy.
Sure, you won’t get rich from it, but if you are looking to make a little extra cash, then it’s certainly a good option.
Companies that Pay You to Test Apps
Here are some places that will pay you for trying apps…
Swagbucks is a reward website that gives you points for doing lots of different tasks, such as:
- Playing games
- Shopping online
- Browsing the internet
- Taking surveys
- Watching videos
- Completing offers
- Uploading your receipts
Swagbucks will actually pay you to install mobile games. For example, I’ve previously seen an offer where you could earn 10,000 SB ($100) for installing Grand Mafia and reaching Mansion Level 25 within 30 days.
You can redeem your points for cash to your PayPal account, and there are tons of gift cards available too, for retailers like Amazon and Walmart.
Use the link in the section heading to earn $5 just for signing up.
With UserTesting, you can get paid to test apps and websites. You earn $10 for every 20-minute test that you complete. Payment is sent right to your PayPal account. You receive payment 7 days after the test is completed.
Compared to Swagbucks and some of the other places on the list, making money with UserTesting does require slightly more effort because you have to provide feedback, but it’s still really simple.
Qmee is a really great rewards website that pays you for doing a variety of tasks.

- Earn $25 cashback when you install the Chief Almighty app and reach Tribe Center level 20 within 50 days.
- Earn $5 cashback when you install the Real Boxing 2 app, play the game and finish stage 22 within 30 days of installing.
Qmee will also pay you for other tasks, such as:

What’s great about Qmee is that it has no minimum cash out amount, so it’s great if you’re looking for apps to earn free money fast. You can get paid to your PayPal account or get a gift card instead.
Userlytics will pay you to test websites and apps. You will need to interact with a web or mobile app, and then speak your thoughts aloud as you do so and answer a few questions. It’s like UserTesting, where you will need to provide feedback on the apps you try.
Once your test results are approved, you will be paid. The amount you earn depends on the user test project, so it can be $5, $10, $15, $20 or other amounts. Some projects pay as much as $90. Payment is sent via PayPal.
Enroll is another company that will pay you to test out apps and websites. You can take user tests on any device, including your phone, tablet, or desktop computer.
Payment is sent via PayPal.
What’s good about Enroll is that, unlike companies like UserTesting and Userlytics, it doesn’t require you to use a microphone or webcam to record your feedback when you’re doing tests. So, you don’t have to worry if you have kids and they’re making noise in the background of your test, or if you want to do tests on the go, like during your lunch hour at work.

Rewardr is an Android app that pays you to install apps.
To earn rewards, you will need to select an offer and click on it to install the app. Then, open up the app immediately after it’s done installing so that you get credited. If you open up the app much later after you have installed it, this could cause reward tracking to be lost.
Follow the offer requirement, which could be to reach a certain level or register for an account. Many advertisers will require some level of engagement in the app before they issue you rewards.
- If it’s a game, then you should try to complete the tutorial or advance a few stages in the game.
- If the app allows you to create an account, then you should create an account and browse around.
- You should perform basic functionalities of the app.
If you are in the process of completing multiple offers, you can view which apps you’ve installed, the offer requirements, and the offer points in the In Progress page.
You can get paid right to your PayPal or Paytm account. You can also get paid to take surveys with Rewardr.
